The week before we left I finally got up my nerve to travel to the left coast to see all of my "kids". Planes and airports aside, I had so much fun visiting Katie in San Diego, Jason in Los Angeles and Ryan & Jessica in Las Vegas. All of them are very busy working and loving life - so it was fun to be a part of all that for a short time! I left feeling proud of all of them. It was especially wonderful to see son Jason's new restaurant called LOCAL...in Silverlake. It was packed when we arrived to check it out - and I could see why. His menu consists of all local and organic foods, with his special magic touches. He shared his recipe for squash soup with Katie and me...she has already whipped it up! Another plus - Love seemed to be in the air at every stop! Moms like to see that!
I told Pat that when we got here to the lake, I just wanted to veg for three days.
instead we have been doing a lot of errands and haven't had a lot of R&R. Maybe tomorrow! It is great to get back to our own bed and to all of our "stuff" after camping out in Georgia for the past 6 weeks!
The lake is showing signs of breaking up. Natives make bets on the date the ice is gone - usually around the middle of April. I am picking March 27th since I am in a hurry to see Spring again (we already had one Spring in Georgia!)
That's all the news from Lake Woebegone, where all the retired couples are happy, all the food is high carb, and none of the ice cream stands are open.
