REALITY CHECK FROM A REALTOR

The decision is made. We WILL try and sell the family estate so we called realtor #1 who said she would be here today at 2pm. I knew this would be a tough weekend. It was. We watch HGTV so we knew what had to be done! De-clutter, de-personalize, clean and spit shine (so to speak). Pat cleaned off the bookshelves, boxing and bagging up books for the thrift store and to keep. I removed everything I could off the kitchen counters and cleaned the pantry. Took chatchkes off the walls and then scrubbed counters and cupboards. Went thru my apron collection and whittled it down to 6. Cleaned screened porch . Moved to the living room. Vacuumed, dusted...and on to the dining room, the Headquarters of my EBAY RETIREMENT PROGRAM previously known as ERP. Picture if you will, boxes and plastic bags of various and sundry items in their pre-sale state. They went into the recently cleaned laundry room. After that exercise it is impossible to see the washer and dryer as they are buried in ERP goods. Detour to the front yard - yank a few weeds, sweep cobwebs off the front porch and clean the storm doors. Upstairs. Take down a bunch of paintings (esp the nude one.) Hide a bunch of stuff in Katies closet. Clean out the linen closet. Scrub sinks and tub. Clean out vanity drawer. Mop kitchen floor, dust and vacuum. Fold laundry (it IS Monday after all!) - no time to put laundry away so stash clean clothes hamper in the guest bathtub :-) Spray air freshner. 1:45pm - collapse in recliner. After all of this , the realtor said the place looks great but to remove some deck furniture and some bedroom furniture and spruce up the landscaping ---and sign on the dotted line. Not so fast, Madam! We have to hear what realtor #2 says. But one or the other - there is SO much work left to do. Have I mentioned the GARAGE, aka the great dark repository of unknown and unwanted THINGS? Or my closet? The small dark repository of unknown and wanted things? THEY ARE EVIL and THEY ARE LURKING!
