WHERE HAS ALL THE SUMMER GONE?
THE END OF SUMMER by MONET
Is it my imagination or is that the smell and feel of the end of summer? It is harder to recognize this August because we haven't really HAD a genuine sort of summertime here in the Upstate! I noticed in the forecast the low on a night next week is to be 47. That's a bit nippy for August. I have two tomato bushes full of big fat green tomatoes and I am wondering if the days will be warm enough to "reden" them up. My boat planter provided us with maybe three meals of snow peas, two of green beans. The mini watermelons are doing something but I am not sure what exactly since I have never tried them before. They all better hurry up - summers a'wastin'!
Pat put together my bike that he got me for Christmas, and bought one for himself today. We wobbled down the road tonight - it was my first time on a bike since living in Coronado. It's true what they say - you never forget!
While we were in Sams Club today I noticed all the backpacks, boxes of crayons, binders, packages of pens and pencils. The sight brought back memories of all those first days of school with 4 kids. The first day of school pictures...everything all new and fresh.
Another reminder of the dwindling days of summer '09!
