OKAY....

Okay, I DID fall on Saturday. I was careful all winter walking on the snow and ice and then - the snow melted. I took Max out with me to get the mail. On the way back I hit a patch of slippery on a slight incline and did a split.  Had I done that kind of split when I tried out for cheerleading as a youth I would have been proudly wearing a cute little flippy skirt and those regulation saddle shoes I always wanted. However when you are MY AGE splits are NOT good. I called out for Pat who was inside, and tried to stand up. Fell back down. I felt woozy and nauseous and in severe pain. My knee didn't function, my hamstring burned like ....well, it burned. My ankle hurt. I managed to crawl to the bottom of the porch steps and luckily within minutes Pat came out and discovered me.  The mail was scattered all over the front yard and Max was cheerfully sniffing bushes and basically ignoring me. So much for the news story about "DOG SAVES OWNER AFTER FALL!" It was raining so Pat covered me up with a few blankets.  I kept fading so he gently slapped me and said "Stay with me!" - and called the ambulance. I got to be this ripe age without ever riding in an ambulance and could have done nicely without breaking that record. Since this story is getting long, I will shorten it by saying I had no broken bones, but a leg that reminds me on a regular basis that I did it harm. I hope to be able to easily walk down the aisle at my son's wedding in August and will do what it takes to do so!  To all reading this PLEASE be careful. One split-second (pardon the expression) can change your life!!
