BEWARE THE MINEFIELDS OF CHRISTMAS....
A good friend of mine has that saying cross-stitched and framed - and she hangs it each year around Dec 1st. I think it is SO appropriate for the season! I am always questioning:
Am I giving enough? Am I giving too much? Is one getting more than the other? Expectations are high with kids until they reach....hmmm, how old? I can't remember when gifts became unimportant to me. I guess it was the first Christmas after having a child - then it was more about them. However if one of them neglects to remember us at Christmas it throws me into a funk. It's the idea of the giving ~ Then there is the gathering of family members - adults and grandkids. Are the kids to be disciplined by a Gramma or a Grampa who is supposed to be jolly and instead is a grump? Tip-toeing around hormones and tantrums and exhaustion -challenges to avoid dangerous minefields! I fully expect to survive another year without serious fallout - even though I haven't completed the cards, cookies and shopping as yet. So if you happen to see a woman in her sunset years blasting thru WalMart or in line at the Post Office, carrying a mine-sweeper, you will know who it is! HOHOHO!
