DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS....

From the Inside of the Lake House

Here we are in our recliners (the old ones - the new ones won't be here for another three weeks!) mulling over our future. Frank in NY, the owner of our future retirement home, wrote and told us he wanted to offer the house to Fort Drum housing as a rental. The 10th Mountain Division has been pumped up in size in the last year and are in dire need of housing for the troops. Now, we aren't totally sure how Frank can offer a house for which he has a contingency contract with no expiration date, but that's beside the point. Should WE rent the place? Should we try and buy it before our house sells? The questions pile up exponentially and the answers aren't easy to come by. We check real estate every day up on Lake Ontario and frankly, to get as many square feet right on the water for the price Frank wants, is not easy to duplicate. In fact - it has been impossible so far. We hate to let this house get away for that reason. So tonight, while you all are snoozing peacefully, we will be wide awake contemplating our retirement - or lack thereof. I know that there are far far worse things to keep us up at night and that eventually it will all work out!
