DEADWOOD RIDES INTO THE SUNSET
I will be suffering withdrawal pangs next Sunday when DEADWOOD is not on the HBO 9PM schedule. I have grown to look past the Cuss-Like-A-Sailor speech and came to love the SOUND of it...a rhythm to the dialogue which to me was Shakespearean. The characters were rich and full of nuances. The feeling I get at the demise of the show is identical to the one I get at the last page of a great book. I will MISS these characters and wish I could know what happens to them after the last fade. With some HBO shows, the season finale is bearable because I know they will be back in the rotation at some point. But I have read that this particular show was too expensive to maintain - the actors had to be basically on retainer so that the ensemble wouldn't scatter to the four winds. But what of Trixie...and Jane? And Swearingen...and....sigh. Farewell DEADWOOD. Maybe we will meet again at Cinema 21!
1 Comments:
Deadwood will be missed by the P clan up here as well. I only saw one episode, but everyone else in the fam was pretty much glued. Farewell friend.
