THE GREAT TEXT-BOOK RIP-OFF
I am sure there are those of you who can relate to this latest parental torment.
Katie started classes this week and each of the books for her classes ring up in the college bookstore at roughly $150 a piece. Used books? Fuggedaboudit. The professors and text book companies make sure your book is obsolete before you take the final.
And now - to add to the agony - they are requiring things like Homework Manager for another $90+ in addition to the text. This is so you can go online and do problems and homework - if you are lucky enough to find a used text for such classes - you will then need to go to the publishers website and purchase the "code" for $92 in addition to your bargain text. Parents and students should rise up, shouting from their windows "I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going To Take It Any Longer"! I just yelled out my window...if you yell and noone hears you does that mean you've made your point?? No - but you feel better!
