THE TWELFTH OF NEVER....

When my kids, in their teenage years, used to ask me questions such as "When can I get new roller blades?" or "When can I have all of my friends spend the night?" I commonly said "On the 12th.....of never". Naturally they didn't find my humor the least bit amusing. Now when I ask myself "When will we sell our house?" those words echo in my mind and I do not find them funny either! I am trying to stay optimistic in the face of this real estate slide - but we have had the house listed all summer and other than the llama farmers, not one person has crossed the squeaky clean threshold to look at it. When you are pre-retirement and your house isn't selling, your stocks are sliding south, and the media is delighting in bad-mouthing the economy....well not much IS amusing! By nature I am a marketing type person - and I am trying to find creative ways to sell this place. Pat has suggested offering a car with the sale. (I hope he's not talking about MY car!)
I am stumped. I did twist our realtor's arm into holding an open house on September 8th - open houses are not done here for some reason. I guess I will find out why!
Think good thoughts on that day - if noone comes I will be packaging up some homemade chocolate chip cookies for all! My goal? A contract on the TWELFTH of SEPTEMBER!
