DRIP...DRIP...DRIP....DRIP....

This might easily be a tale without an ending today. We got our water bill over the weekend and noticed that we had consumed humongous amounts of the stuff over the last 5 weeks. This is disconcerting since during the billing cycle we were only here for two days. I called the water company and they suggested I go out to the curb and look at our meter. "If you see a little red triangle spinning around, that means you have a leak somewhere". I picked up right away on the word SOMEWHERE. I was envisioning water trickling way below the concrete floor in the garage. Or deep within the walls of one the bathrooms. Or perhaps below ground between the house and the meter, in the deep dark woods. None of these thoughts were cheerful in any way. Sure enough, when I checked, that little red triangle was a-spinning away.

We were given some little blue tablets to put in the toilet tanks. If the water in the bowl turned blue in 15 minutes - well - that would be the answer! The toilet had sprung a slow leak. Sad to say all three terlets are leak free. (That would have been the easiest fix). Next, after the rain stops, I will check all the outside faucets and hose connections. Keep your fingers crossed! I would hate to think we will need a bailout plan to pay the plumber. What is the number for the White House??

UPDATE: 5 days later and the leak remains unfound.
UPDATE #2: 10 days later, leak is located and men are hovering over hole repairing
the main line. Luckily it isn't under concrete or behind a wallpapered
wall! Total price for repair....$300.00...argh......
