A TALE OF TWO SPRINGS
We packed up and left Georgia in March. Before we left, the tulips and daffodils had blossomed, the trees were budding. As we headed north spring disappeared in small increments. It was winter all over again...or, what is that expression "deja vu all over again"? The first warm day here in New York, I was walking around our "poppity" trying to figure out where I would plant my flowers, which ones could go where. The next day it snowed. Take that you redneck! A week went by with temperatures on a roller coaster ~ up during the day and below freezing at night. I have been buying seeds on Ebay. I have been figuring ways to fill the bottom of my boat with different sorts of goobers so I won't have to buy a dumptruck load of dirt to plant in it. My daydreams are full of luscious tomato plants, dewey-fresh green leaf lettuce, herbs and flowers. Last week we did notice buds on the trees and some daffodils poking up in our neighbors yards. We even sat out on the back deck one day. "Ahhhh. This is the life", we agreed. That night the forecast was for 31 degrees so in came my little seed trays. Tonight, the wind is howling and the rain is blasting the lake-side of the house. I bet the waves are high. Either Spring is
taking it's old sweet time OR THIS IS SPRING IN NEW YORK!!! If that's the case, then bring on SUMMER!
