SUMMER, I HARDLY KNEW YE....

Here at our end of Lake Ontario, boat owners yank their boats, jet-skis, etc from the water right after Labor Day. (Had we known this unwritten rule we might not have lost our boat, dock and rail sytstem in last years September storm!). Though the skies are blue and the temperatures warm, the lake is boatless. I am sure there are some hardy fishermen who go out until it freezes but I haven't seen them this week.
As I have mentioned before, this has been a weird summer -friends in other areas of the country have said the same thing. It has been cool and rainy. Summer arrived a few weeks ago just in time to paint the leaves pretty colors and finish ripening my tomato crop. There seems to be a feeling of "uh-oh! Winter is coming and it will be BAAD". You can see plows attached to trucks already. We ordered 3 tons of pellets the other day. Pat is looking into snow tire prices. Physically we are prepared. Mentally - not so much!

We had a Great Visit with Erin, Steve and Carson-the-Cutie over Labor Day. Pictures to follow. Pat has started his new job. Lots of traveling. He is disappointed to end his part-time retirement but with two mortgages, he will work until it sells. Or til we win the lottery. Or until he gets his first social security check. I used to dream about winning Mega Millions. Now I have more modest dreams - $300,000 would make me jolly.

By the way, Pat got two rubber-gloved thumbs up from his surgical team when he went back for his 6 week check-up last week. They said "come back in a year". What miracles surgeons can pull off with the help of divine intervention!
