DEFINE TRAITOR -

I have been wondering for years exactly what provocation it would take to classify someone as a traitor - and now, at last - one has been pegged. Good ole Adam G from the O.C. As defined by the US Constitution: Article Three defines treason as levying war against the United States or "in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort," and requires the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act or a confession in open court for conviction."
Previously convicted traitors in the US? John Brown, convicted of treason against the state of Virginia ,Iva Toguri D'Aquino, who is frequently identified with "Tokyo Rose." Subsequently pardoned by President Ford. Governor Thomas Dorr 1844, convicted of treason against the state of Rhode Island; see Dorr Rebellion. Mildred Gillars, "Axis Sally" ,Hans Max Haupt, convicted of treason and sentenced to life in prison for aiding his son who was a spy for Germany during the Second World War and Tomoya Kawakita, sentenced to death for treason, but eventually pardoned by President Kennedy and deported to Japan.

I would like to add my nominations to the TL aka TRAITOR LIST:
Jimmah Carter, even Bubba Clinton (who can forget him bashing our government overseas?) Cindy Sheehan, Harry Belafonte, Danny Glover, Sean Penn...there are more. Politicians who care more for power and ego than the welfare of their country should be hung in the town square.

Yesterday I heard an interview with an author of a book about WWII Bombers. He was asked if our country could ever pull together on a sustained basis like we did during the Great War. He said he doubted it. One of his examples were the Hollywood stars of the day - for example Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable etc. who not only joined the military but declined desk duty in favor of actually fighting for their country.
Name ONE entertainment figure who has volunteered to serve...and then name ONE of them who has come out with snotty, sappy, chicken you-know-what commnents that slide right into headlines in the New York Slimes. Easier to make a list of the latter.

Dont think many of them are standing in line to sign up for USO tours either...
Wayne Newton,actor/director Gary Sinise, singer/television star Chris Isaak, and yes - AL Franken...have there been others?

Stepping off my soapbox, once again....
