ELENA Chapter 1

Elena felt her temples start to throb as she stepped into the elevator before heading to the parking lot. It was going to be one of those headaches that makes your hair hurt. She rummaged around in her purse for her sunglasses, plunked them over her ears and hurried through the revolving door to her car. All she could think about was the long commute home and heading straight into the blinding sun. It had been a hellatious day at work. Started out with coffee spilling on her keyboard , dripping down on her desk chair and built up (or down) to losing a huge sale she thought was a done deal. Elena was counting on that commission check for getting caught up with bills and to pay for the down payment on a newer car. Her '93 Beamer was making more weird noises than a garage band - and it was in the shop more than out.

She was concentrating so hard on getting through the heavy traffic that she didn't notice the dinged-up blue delivery van following her every move.
