A BIRTHDAY FULL OF WHITE LINES, WEDDING, FALL COLORS AND FAMILY

I celebrated my umptiumpth birthday on the road. We left Ellijay after breakfast last Thursday for parts North - New Jersey to be exact. My niece Lauren was to be married in Ocean City, New Jersey on Friday evening. After spending the night north of Baltimore, we rolled in to the Flanders Hotel at 130pm Friday - just in time to get gussied up for the big event! It was a pretty wedding and the bride was absolutely gorgeous! If I had remembered to take my camera to the ceremony I could actually show you a picture! I also forgot my glasses so the ceremony and reception had a certain Impressionistic blur - very attractive! Squinting at all the high-spots of the evening was not conducive to attractive pictures of me however. One might think Pat had a new Asian wife. Ah-so.
After the festivities were over we decided to head up to our future retirement home and get some more pictures and measurements. I must say the fall colors were the prettiest I have ever seen...and the weather in Dexter NY, for which I had packed sweaters and coats - was warm and summery. My cousin and her husband offered their home to us for a night and then after a delayed return from the wedding they talked us into staying one more night with them. It was a long haul back home but we arrived home safely yesterday afternoon -and were greeted with nice steady rain. The collective prayers of everyone in Georgia were answered!
As with any celebration, the best part of the trip was family ~ the long drive was worth every gallon of gas - even when it was $3.08!
