JUST THE USUAL MONDAY...

If it is Monday - which it is - then it's laundry day here on the hill. I have been doing the laundry every Monday for as long as I can remember. When the kids were little there were many Mondays when the last load came out of the dryer just after the stroke of 12 on Tuesday. Ironing used to be on Tuesdays...but frankly I am not sure WHERE my iron is right now! I moved the ironing basket from California to Georgia, and then when we moved to the mountains it came along intact. I wasn't at all surprised when I found clothes in there that had long since been outgrown. It was like a trip down memory lane! Now I have dropped all pretenses and have the ironing board stored behind the Christmas decorations. So if anyone needs something pressed, just ask on or about December 5th. Happy to oblige. One thing out of the ordinary this Monday concerned our refrigerator. We noticed that the top few shelves were not cold...so this morning I called the home warranty people to ask for service.
The first thing the repairman told me was that the flapper on the icemaker wasn't closing which allowed too much warm air inside the freezer. No duh. I have been ranting and complaining about that for over a year. The icemaker would just spit out a few cubes and the opening would get 6 inches of frost around it finally not allowing ANY ice to come out. Mr. Fix-It just retrieved a part from his truck and VOILA - a miracle of modern technology! Then he discovered that the part that auto defrosts the freezer was out of commission. That entailed removing everything from the freezer. There were packages in there with "use by" dates of 2002. It is funny how karma catches up with you. If you have been thinking "I should clean out the freezer" something always seems to happen which makes it imperative to do so.
As I said - just the usual Monday here on the hill!
