THE 51st STATE.....DISARRAY!

THE KITCHEN AS A WORK IN PROGRESS

EXTERIOR SHOWING NEW PORCHES

Here I am at the lake - and poor ole Pat is in the heat and humidity of Ellijay - working his first shift of half-time employment. In the background you can hear the dulcet tones of pneumatic nail guns, a symphony of circular saws and the ever-playing country tunes from the the contractor's radio. All of it is music to my ears since it means they are moving closer to the finish-line. Now if we could just get Lowe's on board with our carpeting (hoping the third order is the charm) I would be a happy person. Not that I am truly UNhappy by any stretch. I do love it up here in the north. Yeah - I've heard the wait til the winter talk. I am sure it will be more confining. But we will have lots to do this winter!

Inside the house things are going a bit slower...the painter (me) has to take frequent arthritis/bursitis breaks. Once in a while I have to pry the brush from my clawed hand. I have finished the BASE coat in the kitchen. And half the bathroom. And parts of the family room and living room. I get bored and move from room to room so now the whole place looks like an experiment gone wrong. Don't you hate the term base coat? Translated the term means "you ain't finished yet sucker. You have two more coats to go!"

When you are involved in projects such as this you can't help but be jealous of those people on HGTV who have swarms of designers, contractors, painters etc swoop in and do it all in a few days. Pat says I want instant gratification and I guess he is right! I'd better get up out of the recliner and get to work!
