ROOTING FOR RAINEY~

Regular old cancer is crappy. Childhood cancer on the other hand is an evil monster which must have a stake driven into it's black heart. Our grandaughter Rainey has fought that fight and won. We are very proud of her and her family for doing what had to be done for her to be cancer-free. The bad thing about cancer treatment for children, with their small bodies, is that the cure can cause other problems down the road. For that reason, Rainey and her Mom are on the road to St.Louis where they will work hard to straighten her spine which was damaged by the proton radiation treatment she received years ago. It did a number on the tumor but also caused her spine to be unstable. She has experienced thirty days of traction last October and was fitted with an uncomfortable hot brace which she did not like One Bit. It worked for a while but now the doctors say she needs another month of traction followed by not one but two spinal surgeries - one from the back and the other from the front. We think it isn't fair that she has to go through all of this. We feel helpless. We love you SOOOO much Rainey and want you to know that Grandpa and Gramma Susan are rooting for you like mad!!!
