NEENER NEENER

The other day Pat and I were laughing because he said "Made you look...made you look.." and I finished "Stole your Mommas pocketbook!".  He wondered if kids everywhere had those same rhymes.  Obviously I knew that one and I grew up in Pennsylvania - and he, as an Army brat, in North Carolina and Puerto Rico.  Then we took a trip down memory lane:

Liar,Liar! Pants are on fire!
Reply:
I don't care, I don't care!
I can buy another pair!

I see London, I see France, I see (someone's name)underpants.

Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. If you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear.

He's Popeye the sailor man (toot, toot). He lives in a garbage can (toot, toot). He likes to go swimmin' with bare-naked women... He's Popeye the sailor man (toot, toot).
Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg, Batmobile lost a wheel And Joker ran away.

Tubby Tubby Two by Four, Can't fit in the bathroom door so he did it on the floor.  (Mr brother loved to tell me that one!)

(Some jump rope rhymes)

Miss Susie had a baby she named him Tiny Tim She put him in the bath tub to see if he can swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap. He tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn't fit his throat Miss Susie called the doctor. Miss Susie called nurse. She called up the lady with the alligator purse .Sick said the doctor. Bellyache said the nurse. Cookies said the lady with the alligator purse.

I am a pretty little Dutch girl
As pretty as I can be
And all the boys in the neighborhood
Are crazy over me
My boyfriend's name is Mello
He comes from the land of Jello
With pickles for his toes and a cherry for his nose
And that's the way my story goes!

Teddy bear, teddy bear,Turn around.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Touch the ground.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Tie your shoe.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Go upstairs.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Say your prayers.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Say good night.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,Turn out the light.

I'm rubber your glue and whatever you say bounces of me and sticks to you!"

I'm sure there were many more that my spongy brain can't remember.
While I was typing I remembered wearing a skate key on a string around my neck to tighten and loosen my metal clamp-on skates. I was 5 then and lucky to have a big expanse of smooth sidewalks where we lived. I can still feel them underfoot!

Pat wondered if kids today still play Red Rover or RedLight - Greenlight...Jump rope, Hopscotch, Stone Teacher or ever play pick- up baseball in a vacant lot? Or are they all inside with their Wiis and Ipads?
