WHAT IS WHITE,GRAY,COLD & WINDY?
The Lake From Our Dining Room
SNOW AT WATERTOWN INT'L AIRPORT
DIDJA GUESS DEXTER, NEW YORK???
As soon as we crossed the border into New York, the snows began! Luckily last Monday they stopped just north of Syracuse so we were able to get home without any problems. It was a little hairy on 81N however. I haven't driven in snow for a long time and when you are on a 3-lane highway and the dividing lines are covered with slushy snow - well, it ain't easy!
We checked the 15 day forecast on Weather Bug and there is snow in some form or another predicted every day. It is interesting how the lake effect snows carry most of it away from the lake and dump it south of here. There is a place south of us called the Tug Hill Plateau which bears the brunt of the bad weather up here...inches per day. As I type I can hear the wind howling and the waves crashing beneath our windows. After our encounter with Hurricane Ike this summer we are just a squinch nervous when we hear those waves!
We were lucky to find some men to help unload the Budget rental truck. Gradually we have been stowing the stuff we brought this time. Space is at a premium and is getting more so with each load. Part of the load was the Christmas decorations.
For the next few weeks, decking the halls, walls, doors and windows is at the top of my list, not to mention baking cookies, shopping, wrapping and looking forward to Katie's visit from San Diego!
We are happy to have arrived safely and are feeling cozy and comfy here in Dexter. Hoping for the same for all of you!
