PUTTING THE TOOTHPASTE BACK IN THE TUBE....
That is the most accurate image I can think of to describe moving. We aren't moving in one tidy little exercise. We are doing a cross-town type move on a long-miles program. We have already driven a loaded Uhaul in April. In 11 days we will hook their biggest trailer to Pat's truck-and then fill IT, the truck bed AND my car with whatever we can squeeze into them for Phase 2 of THE MOVE. It seems as if I just went through all this when wemoved here to Ellijay but it was actually 5 years ago. Seems like yesterday.
I have already exorcised my inherited china on Ebay, and we have Pat's parents china listed. None of our kids want any of it and it is a burden to have to schlep it from home to home. I can speak from coast-to-coast experience on that matter. I have kept a few serving pieces to pass along. A much more manageable inheritance!
Now I am faced with such important questions as:
** Do I need to keep 15 white shirts?
** How many boxes of band-aids will we need in the next 10 years?
** What do we want to keep here - since we will be here every other month
for a period of time?
** How many purses does a woman of my advanced years require?
** Ditto on pairs of shoes
** Ditto on ant-wrinkle creams (Guess I'd better keep ALL of those!)
"Are those wrinkles on your face or did you sleep on a radiator?"
This is a very daunting job. It will not be over any time soon!
If you are out on the highways in the next few weeks and you see a convoy resembling the Clampitt's - honk! It's us!
