A TABLE FOR TWO?
Okay - so the pilgrims sat down with a bunch of friends and Indians. This year Pat and I sat down at a table for two - with Max underfoot looking up with a hopeful eye for a random piece of turkey slipping from our plates. One of us accidentally set the oven on broil instead of bake. An hour into the process we were watching TV when Pat said "Mmmm- I can smell the turkey baking...hmmm - it almost smells like it's burning!" I opened the oven door to check and sure enough! The entire top of The Bird was blackened. A sort of Cajun Blackened Georgia Turkey. I am happy to report that this might be a new way to cook our turkey since the finished bird was sooo moist and juicy. We just peeled away the charred skin and had at it. We missed our kids and family like crazy - as usual - and next year we hope to be sharing our table with them. But today is a new day - filled with leftovers and thoughts of the next holiday whooshing toward us! Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!
