THE BLIZZARD OF AUGHT EIGHT
It seems that no matter where we move, the natives always give us a heads up on the weather that rarely comes true. In Ellijay we were told that we would have snow and reeeally big ice storms. The first thing I did was to head to Ace Hardware for some boots and toboggans. They gathered dust in the garage the 5+ years we have been there. When we moved to NY we were told that we wouldn't see that much snow..."it will blow right over you all and dump further south closer to Syracuse"

We are in the midst of the blizzard of the century. The wind gusts are up to 40 mph.
Katie was supposed to fly here to Watertown and arrive this morning. Flights were cancelled. In the process of re-booking, USAIR offered her a free ticket if she would depart tomorrow morning from San Diego and fly into Syracuse. That's the plan if - and that's a BIG if- she can cross the US without any cancellations. We are praying that (a) Philadelphia airport will be good to go tomorrow morning (b) Syracuse airport will be open tomorrow evening and that (c) we can get down 81 to meet her at 9p and back home again!
Is there anything cozier though than being in a nice warm home with a Christmas tree, candles in the windows, cookies baking in the oven, a dog curled up in a chair - while the wind blows the snow into drifts? Hot chocolate anyone??
